After the End – Fight the Mutants, Save the Planet
Did you ever watch a movie where they land on a planet that’s filled with mutants and they constantly have to fight off those mutants? And after watching that movie, did you wonder how it would be like if you were part of the action? I know I always wondered how it would be like to battle an army of mutants.
Luckily for me, I have a computer – and so do you since you’re reading this. By installing the right piece of software on my computer I can achieve that dream of mine. Now the right piece of software in this situation could be the KraiSoft-developed game After the End. To hype you up, here’s the game’s official presentation:
“Your patrol cruiser received [a] mayday signal from a research base on a suburban planet "Rydon 7". The dropship directed to investigate the situation was hit and damaged, and you are the only survivor. Do you dare to go out of the ship and see what's outside?”
If I were to compare After the End with another game, I would have to compare it to Diablo. Just like in Diablo, you control a main character that you see from above. Enemies show up from all around you and you have to take them out. You travel through different locations – perhaps travel is not the right word in this situation. You battle your way through different locations, from forests to canyons, lava fields and wastelands – now that’s better. The more mutants you take out, the more experience you accumulate. You can then use your experience points to improve your skills.
You don’t fight the mutants with your bear hands. You have a choice of 16 powerful weapons – 10 main weapons like the Sonic Cannon, and 6 secondary weapons, like Spider Mines. There are also various devices, user-controlled vehicles and lots of special abilities.
After the End offers three game modes: Campaign, Firing Range, Survival. In Campaign mode you follow the game’s storyline. In Firing Range mode you hone your skills. And in Survival mode, you can see how long you can last as more and more mutants come your way.
